... my focus this time is the care of my natural hair.
I have been all natural since May 18, 2016.
I decided to go natural in search of myself. That's right! I didn't know who I was except that I was bi-racial.
(At the time I went natural, I didn't even know who my father was, but that has since changed as I got the chance in August of 2017 to meet my cousin on my father's side and learn a little about who he was and some about the family. More on this story at another time.)

So my natural hair journey has been crazy amazing. Here are some pics from 2016 just to show how much my hair has grown.
These were all taken around June/ July of 2016. (Let me know if you want to see more pictures from my natural hair journey or connect with me on Facebook as I have an entire album dedicated to this transition.)
One of the reasons why I think my hair grew really quick is because I braided it. I figured out that when I braid or twist my hair, it grows. Also, I use liquid Vitamin E in my hair regimen by adding it to my hair care products.
So my WHY in this area is because I do want my hair to grow and I want it to be healthy and the one thing that I do know for a certainty is that Vitamin E is good for the hair skin and nails.
So here we are 2 years later (technically it will be two years on the 18th of this month) and I am just now learning what protective styles and how to do them. I have watched a lot of videos on youtube of hairstyles being done on natural hair which has helped me.
YouTube is your friend. (lol)
I have even joined a Natural Hair group on Facebook wherein we all discuss our love for our hair and how we keep it up while encouraging others to maintain their own healthy hair care regimen.
It was here that I learned about the LOC method and how to apply it.
Check it out below:
I'm working it out...
and now for the end results...
I even went out and got a satin hair bonnet for my hair to further protect my style, only to find out that I got the wrong type of bonnet. Though it says that it is satin, it is really a blend that will hurt my hair. So, now I have to go to the store and find some 100% silk or 100% charmeuse material to wrap my hair up in at night so that my ends will be protected and my hair will grow even longer and healthier.
Why am I putting all of this effort into my hair?
It's simple. I want my hair to be healthy. I love myself and who I am today. Part of loving myself means that I am taking better care of myself. I am eating healthier as one of the videos posted shows. I am drinking more water which is also good for maintaining a healthy head of hair.
I should have been doing this all along, but there was a lot of broken parts of me that needed to be healed. I thank God for healing me in the private areas of my life and heart. I am feeling much better, looking better, and losing the dead weight. (YEA!)
... and it's showing too in my hair, skin, and nails.
3 John 2 New Living Translation (NLT)2 Dear friend, I hope all is well with you and that you are as healthy in body as you are strong in spirit.
3 John 2 New International Version (NIV)2 Dear friend, I pray that you may enjoy good health and that all may go well with you, even as your soul is getting along well.
